The Washington Post has launched a year long series tiltled “Being A Black Man.”  
“Over the past 50 years, black men have been perhaps the most studied and dissected populations subgroup in America.  Now numbering 18 million, black men often feel caught between individual achievements and collective failures, defined more by their images in popular culture than their lived experiences. This series will explore what it means to be a black man in today’s society.  Reports will run periodically throughout the rest of the year in the Washington Post and on washingtonpost.com." KEEPING YOU INFORMED-THE PROSTATE NETWORK

The Prostate Network, a non- profit organization, whose mission is to heighten risk awareness of prostate cancer and to provide essential information regarding screening, treatment  and sources of support for males and their families has addressed the subject of Early Prostate Cancer Antigen  (EPCA) screening in their January 2006 newsletter, In The Know.   more >>




MAN UPDATES NATIONAL PROGRAM DIRECTORY
 
MAN in collaboration with UNCG and the FPMTC is collecting information on reproductive health programs that have a male health component.  The directory is intended to serve as a resource guide and to facilitate communications between public and private organizations interested in male Family Planning/Reproductive Health issues associated with male health. NEW REPORT ON SEXUAL BEHAVIOR RELEASED 
 
The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) has released the sixth (Cycle 6) National Survey of Family Growth(NSFG), which was conducted in 2002.  “The Sexual Behavior and Selected Health Measures: Men and Women 15-44 of Age, United States, 2002” report released by the NSFG details sexual behavior among males and females 15—44 years of age in the United States in 2002.  Cycle 6 represents the first time males were surveyed directly for the report.  more >>

CALL FOR EVENTS

MAN is requesting organizations that are hosting events, training sessions, conferences and other meetings related to male health, male family planning and male reproductive health to submit their event information to MAN's Calendar of Events. Posting your event on MAN's Calendar of Events will provide visibility to a nationwide audience of male reproductive health professionals as well as clinicians and academicians with an interest in male health.
